Vic: Retirement building projects to create 800 jobs
MELBOURNE, Dec 11 AAP - New retirement and aged care properties planned for Victoria
would provide about 800 full-time jobs in the building industry, a management company
said today.
Retirement Services Australia announced $125 million worth of building projects, including
the $50 million redevelopment of Essendon Hospital and a $26 million independent living
and higher care apartment facility in Sandringham.
Managing director Clinton Casey said the need for purpose-built assisted care retirement
facilities that catered for older people was a rapidly growing market.
"The company has confidence in the Victorian economy and with a thirty per cent drop
in housing starts construction prices are highly competitive at the present moment," he
said in a statement.
