Qld: Arson not ruled out in fire which kills woman

BRISBANE, Aug 27 AAP - Police have not ruled out arson in a housefire which killeda Brisbane mother of three early today.
The 33-year-old woman, who sustained burns to her entire body, died on her way to RoyalBrisbane Hospital.
Her 62-year-old mother and two sons, aged six and 13, and daughter, 7, were treatedfor smoke inhalation, minor burns and shock.
It is believed the children dragged their mother and grandmother from the fire at thelow-set brick house in Belrose Avenue, Petrie, at 3am (AEST).
The family was gathered outside the house when fire officers arrived and the blazewas extinguished within 10 minutes.
Police from the Pine Rivers District Criminal Investigation Branch today dusted thefamily car for fingerprints.
It is believed the fire may have started in a rear bedroom which sustained the most damage.
"At this stage we are continuing along with our investigation with the view to establishingwhether there has been any offences or not," Inspector Jack McCoombe told Channel Ten.
Queensland Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Ian Payne said the house had smoke alarms.
"It is being treated as a suspicious fire now by police and fire services and we'reinvestigating," Mr Payne said.
It is the second fatal blaze in the Brisbane metropolitan area in nine days after aboarding house fire at Sandgate killed three people.
