NSW: Toddler killed when she falls under wheels of 4WD

SYDNEY, Dec 24 AAP - A toddler was killed when she was run over by a car being push-started
on a footpath in a NSW mid-north coast town today.

The 18-month-old girl was approaching the car from behind when she slipped under one
of the four-wheel drive's rear wheels at about 10am (AEDT) in Kempsey, NSW Police said.

A 26-year-old woman was in the driver's seat of the vehicle when the incident occurred.

Police would not comment on the relationship between the child and the woman.

The child died of head and chest injuries at the scene after paramedics were unable
to revive her, police said in a statement.
